I’m getting cold just watching that. No heater, no insulation, no windows. Trundling through a winter landscape in sub-zero temperatures. They didn’t even have gloves on while pulling the car out of the snow bank. Massive respect to them.

That was an awesome video....reminds me of the fellow in the US that did a series of articles on driving a Ford Model A in Michigan as his only car for an entire year - it was Johnathan Klingerman of Haggerty Insurance.

Alaska is so beautiful, and the weather is much more my style (I’d rather be freezing cold then burning hot any day). Interesting choice of car, but for some reason it just looks... fitting? Seeing that old sputter bug venturing across the icy wasteland of America just feels right, and it’s a great wallpaper sort of picture (specifically around the 4 minute mark).

The video was shot in Finland. Although I feel like there was a guy who did Alaska by model T like 10 or 15 years ago?

My dyslexic brain read Matkalla as Alaska... the point still stands... I’m just a bit dense haha.

Hello! I know this is not relevant to this post, but do you have any information on your 1973 SAAB 96? I remember seeing it on craigslist several years ago, and even inquired about it, but was only in high school at the time and sadly could not act on it. I am fascinated by SAABs and still frequently think about that one specifically! Do you still own it, or if not, do you know of its whereabouts? Thank you.

It was actually purchased by an automotive journalist and now lives in California.

Thank you so much for the reply. If I may ask, do you have any suggestions or leads on where to find vintage SAABs in Texas, besides the usual (craigslist, owners’ forums, etc.)? I definitely regret not being able to purchase yours!
